This summer Let’s Talk Science welcomed David Lapides as Vice President of Programs.  In this new position in the organization David will lead the teams responsible for the design, development and delivery of programs and services for Preschool to Grade 12 educators and their students. This includes IdeaPark, TomatosphereTM, CurioCity, Let’s Talk Science Outreach and the Let’s Talk Science Challenge, along with their French counterparts.

Meaghan and Laura have been preparing for the Let’s Talk Science Challenge since February. Their team is one of three from Holy Cross Junior High School in St. John’s that will be participating with over 140 students at the Memorial University on April 29, 2016. This is their second year participating.

Canada’s national DNA Day is April 21

Thursday April 21 is DNA Day in Canada. The annual event, developed by Let’s Talk Science and Genome Alberta, helps young Canadians explore the world of genetics by connecting them with the science community.

This year, DNA Day includes two live-streamed events. The first event focuses on the topic, personalized medicine and features experts from Ontario Genomics, DNAStack, the Ontario Science Centre, SickKids and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. The second event includes experts from the University of Guelph who will discuss topics related to DNA Barcoding.
