Faculty of Education Students
We are always happy to have Althouse students with a science background volunteer with us.  We also take on 1-2 volunteers every year for the Faculty of Education "T2P" Program.

Science with Impact Training
All volunteers are required to attend a Science with Impact Training session before they can volunteer at any event.  Let's Talk Science's new outreach training program helps scientists, engineers and technology professionals prepare for outreach activities with youth in their communities.
In its recent policy report, the OECD Global Science Forum clearly stated the importance of engaging scientists in outreach as an important strategy for sparking student interest in scientific careers. Through these interactions, youth gain access to accurate and credible information and realistic role models – keys to dispelling the stereotypes that fuel disinterest in science and technology.
Volunteers in a position of authority know that when presenting science to children, they have the capacity for profound influence.  To help them share their expertise in a planned, sensitive, and appropriate way, Let’s Talk Science has developed an innovative training package. Thanks to generous grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Great West Life, London Life, and Canada Life; the Science with Impact training program aims to provide information, give practical examples and model best practices in outreach methods within a foundation of educational theory.
