STEM Storytime – Butterfly Life Cycles
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. EST
Join Let's Talk Science Outreach at the Université de Moncton to read Eric Carle's book, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and complete a hands-on science activity about caterpillars and butterflies!
Using some very ordinary items at home, students will learn and discuss the different steps in the life cycle of a butterfly from egg, to caterpillar, to chrysalis/cocoon, to butterfly.
For this activity you will need:

-Tissue paper - 2 inch x 3 inch piece of green for the chrysalis, and any other colours you want for your butterfly - cut to 2 inch x 2.5 inch
-Pipe cleaners - 2-inch piece in black for the butterfly, and any other colours you want for your caterpillar - cut to 6 inches
-Black marker or crayon
-Small twig from outside
-Tempera paint (optional)
