STEM Storytime – Cloud in a Jar

Join Let's Talk Science Outreach to read Tomie de Paola's book, "The Cloud Book" and complete a hands-on science activity about clouds!
Students will learn about how water vapour condenses into water droplets that attach to particles in the air to form a cloud. Using everyday household items, students will then conduct an experiment that emulates the formation of a cloud in a jar.
For this activity, students will need:
- ice cubes
- jar (examples: mason jar, old pickle jar)
- hairspray (other aerosol sprays, such as Lysol spray, can be used as a substitute)
- hot water
- food colouring - optional
Ensure that students have adult supervision when working with the hot water and aerosol spray.
Please join us for our weekly STEM Storytime series on Tuesdays at 1pm ET in English! For each week that you participate in a STEM Storytime live event, you’ll receive an entry in our monthly draw for a $50 gift card to buy books for your classroom! If you cannot make it to a live session, feel free to register and you will be sent a link to the recording afterwards.
You can find upcoming listings on the events section of the Let’s Talk Science website: https://letstalkscience.ca/events?type=storytime.
