Our bodies contain stem cells, which can transform into any other type of cell. Imagine being able to grow the cells a person needs - for transplants, to replace diseased cells... If only we understood perfectly how to unlock the power of stem cells. Studying the potential for regenerative medicine from stem cells is a whole field of research.
This full-day symposium will expose youth to avenues in research, from the base science, to the laboratories, to the practice.
Agenda
- Presentation: Introduction to Stem Cell Biology
- 10 minute talks from stem cell researchers and the chance to ask them questions (prizes available for students who ask questions!)
- Lunch, mingling with University students studying stem cell biology and photobooth
- Laboratory tours and hands-on activities
Additionally, before the event volunteers would be happy to visit your classroom to lead an interactive activity!
StemCellTalks is presented in partnership with
