Classroom Visits & Community Groups

We can bring our activities to you. Whether you have a classroom, a gym, a community space, or a field - we can make STEM happen!

How to Request a Visit

How does a visit request work? Since our activities are run by volunteers, we cannot guarantee a visit before matching you with a volunteer. We operate by sharing your request with our volunteers, and if one of them is available we will connect you with the volunteer and arrange for the visit. Here at SFU we have an easy request process:
1.    Fill out our Activity Request Form
2.    Wait for an email from one of our coordinators. Please note that requests are contacted on a first-come first-served basis. You will receive an email from a coordinator within two weeks.
We are now accepting requests for 2023-24 in-person workshops! In-person workshops will be held in the educators classroom. Until further notice, workshops will not be held on the Burnaby or Surrey SFU campuses.

On SFU Campus: Burnaby and Surrey

All of our activities can be run on campus at either the Burnaby or Surrey Simon Fraser University campuses. We work closely with SFU's Science in Action program and we can help you build a full-day field trip for your students. Our activities are free, but you are responsible for transportation. Both campuses are serviced by TransLink.
At Burnaby Campus, we often hold workshops in the Trottier Studio for Innovative Science Education, and other on-campus laboratories. At Surrey campus, we run workshops in classrooms and the teaching laboratories that are specially designed for undergraduate science programs.
The High School Career Days, featuring the 8 departments in the Faculty of Science, are at SFU's Burnaby Campus. Look out for news about the Symposia coming in the 2023-2024 school year!

Events & Festivals

We run STEM activity booths at school fairs and community festivals throughout the year. If you're looking to add a little STEM to your fun, we'd love to join you!

Rural Visits

We want all children across Canada to have access to exciting, hands-on STEM learning experiences. We take a few road trips each year to parts of BC that are too far from Burnaby for a day trip. Bringing our volunteers to your school or community is free to you. Please contact us, no matter where in BC you are!

LTS SFU Online

The coordinator team at Let's Talk Science SFU offers live, interactive science sessions through online video conferencing apps, such as Zoom and MS Teams. As always, our programs are completely free for classes and community groups.
We will work with you individually to tailor a program that works with you and your class or community group. However, we cannot guarantee our ability to run a session online.
If you are interested in having our science outreach programs run in an online capacity for your class or community group, please see How to Request a Visit.
