Government of Canada Reinvests in Digital Literacy Programming for Youth in Canada

CanCode funding will support Let’s Talk Science’s digital skills program for Early Years to Grade 12 youth and educators across Canada

(Ontario) - On February 11, as part of the CanCode 3.0 investment, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry announced Let’s Talk Science will receive $2.8 million over the next two years. This investment will support the development of coding and digital skills in Early Years to Grade 12 youth across Canada.

By investing in resources that teach students things like coding and data analytics, we are helping them gain the skills needed to succeed in the 21st-century economy. These are the skills that will help them transition from the classroom to research labs, shop floors and boardrooms.”

The renewed funding will allow Let’s Talk Science to provide nearly 500,000 student training opportunities over two years through programming that will develop their digital literacy skills and help them prepare for future careers.

Let's Talk Science is excited to continue developing STEM resources and digital literacy programming in both English and French for students and educators, and ensuring equitable access to STEM education across Canada.

Since 2017, CanCode has helped provide over 4.5 million coding and digital skills training opportunities to students and over 220,000 to teachers.
