Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Challenge returns for classrooms across Canada!

On February 1, the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Challenge was officially launched for Grade 6-12 classrooms across Canada. Now in its third year, the Challenge empowers Canadian students to discover a deeper passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-based learning by applying STEM to real-world challenges facing their communities.

For the third year in a row, Let’s Talk Science is the education partner for the Challenge. In addition, Natalie Panek – an explorer, Forbes 30 Under 30 nominee, and Canadian rocket scientist currently working on the ExoMars rover project – has returned as an ambassador for the Challenge.

Grade 6-12 classrooms across Canada are invited to submit an entry for Phase 1 by visiting Samsung.com/solvefortomorrow. Phase 1 closes February 28, 2018. On March 26, 2018, 50 Regional Finalists will be chosen. Those finalists will receive a Samsung Solve for Tomorrow technology prize package consisting of a Samsung Galaxy S8, GearVR, Galaxy Tab A and Gear360! The technology can be used to help the 50 Regional Finalists produce a short video submission of their STEM project. In June, the judges will select four Regional Winners, and each Regional Winner will receive $20,000 in Samsung technology for their school.

The four regions include:

  • British Columbia and Northern Canada: British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut
  • Prairies: Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba
  • Central Canada: Ontario and Quebec
  • Atlantic Canada: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador
