“Seeing the pure joy and excitement in the child’s face brightened my day and reminded me why mentoring and interacting with the youth is so important.”

Time volunteering with Let’s Talk Science: Since January 2022

Area of study: Bachelor of Science/Biology student

Inspirational Moment: I remember after I did my presentation, one of the students in grade 5 came up and said that “I am happy to be at school today, and I had fun today.” Seeing the pure joy and excitement in the child’s face brightened my day and reminded me why mentoring and interacting with the youth is so important.

Favourite Let’s Talk Science volunteering activity: My favourite activity is Crime Lab, as it gives the children an opportunity to be crime investigators and learn about chemistry. The children really get into the activity and are super involved which makes the activity really fun.

Why do you volunteer with Let’s Talk Science? I enjoy teaching different science topics to children because I believe it is important to spark their interest in science at a young age.

Fun fact: I have been a tutor/teacher for most of my life, whether it's for my younger siblings or professional tutoring.
