Join Lexie and Lenny to read Eugenia Cheng’s book, “Bake Infinite Pie with X + Y” and complete a hands-on science activity about math and baking!

In this 45-minute activity, students will learn all about baking, while exploring the role of math in the kitchen. Students will use everyday household items and playdough to play a series of short games involving numbers, geometry, and measurement.

For this activity, students will need:

  • Playdough
  • Popsicle stick(s) for cutting and shaping (at least one)
  • Lid or cap to cut circles (at least one)
  • A surface suitable for playdough
  • Optional: round marker, glue stick or cylinder to roll the dough

This activity is targeted at students in Early Years to Grade 1. Older students may still enjoy the activity and book but may find parts too easy and may need some adjustment to stay engaged.
