Child looking at stars
Lexie and Lennie the squirrels

Join Lexie and Lenny to read Amitha Jagannath Knight’s book, “Usha and the Big Digger” and complete a hands-on science activity about constellations!

In this 45-minute activity, students will learn all about stars and constellations. Students will use everyday household items to create a constellation viewer.

For this activity, students will need:

  • A blank piece of paper or Constellation template : https://bit.ly/STEMStorytimeConstellations
  • A piece of construction paper ir a paper towel roll
  • Sharpened pencil
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Colouring supplies (i.e. crayons or coloured pencils)

This activity is targeted at students in Grades 1 to 3. Younger students may require more adult help and support drawing their constellation and assembling their viewer.
