Waving skeleton
Lexie and Lennie the squirrels

Join Lexie and Lenny to read Blair Thornburgh’s book, “Skulls!” and complete a hands-on science activity about the human skeleton!

In this 45-minute activity, students will learn all about skulls, bones, and the skeletal system. Students will use everyday household items such as cotton swabs or paper straws to create a diagram of a skeleton.

For this activity, students will need:

  • 1 sheet of colored construction paper
  • 15 cotton swabs (preferably with paper sticks, not plastic) OR 4-5 paper straws
  • Glue or tape
  • Scissors
  • 1 sheet of white paper OR worksheet with skull cut-out and labels

Younger students may require more adult help and support with the activity.
