Child playing with icicle in snow
Lexie and Lennie the squirrels

Join Lexie and Lenny to read Anna Prokos' book "Ice Queen" and complete a hands-on science activity about icicles!

In this activity, students will learn about how icicles are formed. Using everyday household items, they will then create their own icicles that they can hang to decorate their classroom or at home!

For this activity, students will need:

  • Aluminum foil
  • String or ribbon
  • Glue or tape
  • Decorating materials (e.g., glitter, scraps of paper, markers, paint, etc.)

If you want to stay in the “ice” theme we suggest blue, white or grey decorating materials, but students can use their creativity and create multicolour icicles!

Join us for our weekly STEM Storytime series on Tuesdays at 1 pm ET in English! If you cannot make it to a live session, feel free to register and you will be sent a link to the recording afterwards.

You can register for upcoming sessions or access on-demand STEM Storytime events on our STEM Storytime Page
