Happy National Volunteer Week!

News | April 14, 2023 | Share on:

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration of Canada’s 24 million volunteers! This year, we’re celebrating and appreciating the efforts of our amazing 1200 volunteers from Sunday, April 16, to Saturday, April 22.

All across Canada, our volunteers showcase their talent and passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to inspire youth. In 2021-2022 alone, they engaged in more than 618,000 interactions with children and youth!

Their versatile skills and diverse educational backgrounds enhance their engagement with youth, whether that be in-person or virtually, with a small class or a big community event. Other equally important ways volunteers contribute to Let’s Talk Science include editing online content to ensure accuracy, preparing workshop materials, or providing insight to youth about their research on a career panel.

Here are more highlights from the incredible work our volunteers accomplished in 2021-2022:

  • More than 52,000 Indigenous youth interactions
  • Worked in partnership with more than 5,000 educators
  • Achieved over 46,307 interactions with parents/general public
  • Delivered over 4,700 hands-on/minds-on experiences
  • Engaged children and youth from over 1,100 communities across Canada
