Happy National Volunteer Week!

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration of Canada’s 24 million volunteers! This year, we’re celebrating the contributions of our 1400 incredible volunteers from Sunday, April 14, to Saturday, April 20.
 
For 30 years, volunteers have been the backbone of our work at Let’s Talk Science. All across Canada, our volunteers bring their talent and passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to inspire youth. We’re proud to say that in 2022-2023, Let’s Talk Science surpassed 17 million interactions with youth, educators, and parents across Canada since 1993. In 2022-2023 alone, our volunteers interacted more than 745,000 times with children and youth and partnered with more than 4,800 educators. 
 
Our volunteers come from all over Canada and all kinds of educational backgrounds, from current students to career professionals. With their diverse backgrounds and skills, they engage with youth, online or in person, with a small class, or at a big community event. Let’s Talk Science volunteers also lend their scientific knowledge to online content, provide necessary insight into youth culture, and share their research and career experiences through panels and workshops. 
 
Here are more highlights from the incredible work our volunteers accomplished in 2022-2023: 

•    Interacted more than 54,000 times with Indigenous youth
•    Partnered with more than 4,800 educators 
•    Interacted over 64,000 times with parents and the public 
•    Delivered over 6,000 hands-on/minds-on experiences 
•    Engaged children and youth from over 1,000 communities across Canada
