Inspiring Canada’s next generation of cancer researchers

Let’s Talk Science Outreach and the Canadian Cancer Society’s Research Information Outreach Team (RIOT), have teamed up this year to bring exciting events to high school students! The Let’s Talk Cancer symposium is a free one-day event for Grade 11 and 12 students.

Through this partnership we will be hosting 4 events across Ontario, to engage teens in an immersive exploration to see the many facets of current cancer research.

Working with the Canadian Cancer Society’s RIOT teams, each event will showcase its own local connection to cancer treatment and research. Keynote and guest speakers will include local cancer survivors and researchers doing work right in each city.

These symposia style events will take place throughout April and May at 4 different Let’s Talk Science Outreach sites across Canada. Each of these events will bring students to a university campus to explore, first-hand, the world of cancer research. From campus tours, to guest speakers talking about their research, to hands-on explorations, students will expand their learning about cancer biology in order to improve their basic knowledge of cancer and the challenges of cancer research.
