Over the past 30 years, Let's Talk Science has been a national STEM education and outreach leader. Programming includes several climate education programs and resources that help youth understand science and inspire positive climate action. Building on this commitment to sustainable development, Let's Talk Science is proud to launch its first corporate green plan.

"Let's Talk Science is committed to sustainability. Through our operations and as a component of our education programming, we aim to reduce the organization's environmental impact by assessing choices, diverting waste and building sustainable practices."

Cailin Clarke, Vice President, Operations

A little over a year ago, Let's Talk Science created the 'Green Team'. The team consists of ten passionate and knowledgeable employees with ambitions to reduce the organization's environmental impact and support sustainable practices through a green plan. The three-year plan shares recommendations for the organization linking Sustainable Development Goals 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and 13 (Climate Action) with specific actions. This plan challenges employees to consider options for low-impact change, adjust daily routines, guide actions and embrace environmental sustainability.

In the last year, Let’s Talk Science has created a new travel guideline, sustainable criteria flow chart for purchasing, and a series of recommendations to reduce environmental impact and guide the integration of shipping and logistics, waste reduction, climate action, etc.

"It is important to embed sustainable thinking across Let's Talk Science. We are working to improve the environmental footprint of our operations, setting a positive example as we inspire students to take their own climate action."

Dr. Bonnie Schmidt, President and Founder

Let's Talk Science is working alongside Green Economy London, one of seven Green Economy hubs across Ontario that supports businesses to set and achieve sustainability targets. With the newest efforts, Let's Talk Science aims to reduce GHGs by 20% in the national office within the next ten years and take on a minimum of ten environmental stewardship projects. Let’s Talk Science is also a proud member of the London Environmental Network and has participated in the Environmental Action Incubator project.
