NSERC PromoScience has announced three years of support for the Let’s Talk Science Outreach program.

STEM Outreach ActivityNSERC’s PromoScience Program offers financial support for organizations like Let’s Talk Science/Parlons sciences that motivate and empower youth to fulfill their potential and prepare for their future careers and roles as citizens by supporting learning and skill development through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

With this support we can continue to offer programs free of charge and resources that help youth develop positive attitudes, critical skills and career awareness. We will continue to connect the STEM and education communities to support youth development, strengthen learning and support educators. Since 2001, NSERC PromoScience grants have been seminal in the steady growth of the Let’s Talk Science Outreach program.

Design ChallengeThe Let’s Talk Science Outreach program is a unique program model that has grown from a network of three to 40 post-secondary partners (universities and colleges) coast to coast in English and French.

Each year, Let’s Talk Science supports post-secondary partner sites in recruiting, training and mobilizing thousands of amazing STEM volunteers to deliver interactive, hands-on/minds-on activities in over 300 distinct communities.

Making the program accessible includes a commitment to offering opportunities to under-represented groups such as First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) and in rural and remote communities where youth often don’t have the same access to STEM engagement or exposure to STEM careers.

In the next three years we plan to support program growth and deepen our reach.
