Let’s Talk Science reaches 5 million with STEM
As Canada celebrates its 150th birthday, Let’s Talk Science is also celebrating a significant milestone – we have now inspired more than 5 million children, youth, educators and members of the general public with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)!
Technological changes are impacting the world of work and global challenges are demanding even more STEM-trained people. Since Let’s Talk Science started in 1993, we have worked with children, youth and educators to bring STEM to life. Today, our free programs help prepare youth for the jobs of the future – jobs that may not even exist yet.
While we are making a significant impact, we’re continuing our work to ensure parents and youth understand that a background in STEM develops critical thinking and analytical skills (among others) – skills youth need to succeed in all jobs, not just those in the STEM fields.
With this in mind, we are also celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday with a new initiative – Canada 2067. It is a national project to shape the future of STEM learning from Kindergarten to the end of secondary school. We’re asking Canadians to join the conversation and help develop an action plan and a national vision for STEM education.
