Let’s Talk Science Welcomes New Members of the Board of Directors

Let’s Talk Science is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to our Board of Directors. Debasis (“DB”) Bhaumik, Eric Bosco and Deborah Saucier join a team of dedicated and accomplished professionals who guide and oversee the work of Let’s Talk Science.

“I am delighted to welcome new members to our national board,” said Hilary Foulkes, Chair of the Let’s Talk Science Board of Directors.  ”The addition of Debasis, Eric and Deb will complement our Board’s diverse professional experiences, geographies and personal histories to ensure we uphold Let’s Talk Science’s impact and relevance in a rapidly changing world. We all bring our unique perspectives and passion to the critical mission of helping Canadian youth prepare for future careers and citizenship roles.”

 

Debasis (“DB”) Bhaumik, Director

Debasis (“DB”) Bhaumik is a leader, innovator, mentor, educator and best-selling author who enjoys driving digital transformation. He is currently VP, Information Technology at Nutrien and has held senior roles with global corporations including IBM, Siemens Medical, CGI and Enbridge in the US, Canada and Asia-Pacific region.

DB has an MBA with specialization in Finance and a Master’s of Science in Physics. He presently teaches classes at universities in Calgary and mentors young technology professionals. DB is also a member of Advisory groups with Mount Royal University and Waterloo University’s AI department.

DB’s strong business and digital leadership skills, coupled with his lived experiences as a New Canadian from India will help guide Let’s Talk Science into a digital future.


Eric Bosco, Director

Eric Bosco is Chief Business Development & Partnerships Officer at Mitacs where he works closely with governments, academia and industry to promote innovation. An accomplished techpreneur, Eric is also a Francophone from Quebec with deep experience working with industry and post-secondary students.

Eric studied engineering physics at the Université de Montréal and presently serves as a director on the board of “Zu”, an incubator/accelerator for companies in the creative arts. He is also a board member of AGE WELL National Centre of Excellence, Canada’s technology and aging network. 

Eric brings a depth of experience and rich perspectives that will support Let’s Talk Science as we continue to strengthen community, industry and government relationships.


Dr. Deborah Saucier, Director

Deborah (Deb) Saucier is President and Vice-Chancellor of Vancouver Island University and an accomplished neuroscientist, devoted educator and experienced administrator. Originally from Saskatoon with Métis heritage, Deb is deeply committed to student success, Indigenous education, reconciliation and community engagement. She is the 2020 recipient of the Indigenous Women in Leadership Award from the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) and TD Bank Group. 

Deb started her journey in academia on Vancouver Island and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from the University of Victoria as well as a PhD in psychology from Western University.

Deb has a long-standing connection to Let’s Talk Science and was one of our first graduate student volunteers in the 1990’s. More recently, she helped launch the Outreach program at Ontario Tech University. Deb brings strong awareness of the value of our community-based, volunteer driven programming to the Board.
