Mid-year Outreach Conferences

News | January 21, 2015 | Share on:

This weekend, coordinators from Let’s Talk Science Outreach sites in Eastern Canada will be gathering in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the first of three regional conferences.

At each of this winter’s regional conferences, Outreach site coordinators will be participating in training, workshops and networking sessions to build skills and share ideas. Guest speakers, national Let’s Talk Science staff and fellow Outreach coordinators will all participate in leading the sessions and ensuring successful conferences.

Each of the regional conferences will be hosted by local Outreach coordinators, who add their own unique spin on the event. As the Eastern conference hosts, Dalhousie’s coordinators will lead sessions about their Junior Scientist program and have planned a tour of the University’s Planetarium.

Next week, our coordinators at McMaster University will host the Ontario coordinators for a "Frozen" themed conference, where coordinators will be looking at things they need to "let go" and brainstorming things they want to try "for the first time in forever!"

Later in March, Outreach site coordinators in Western Canada will converge in Winnipeg for the western regional conference, hosted by coordinators at the University of Manitoba.

These Outreach conferences are great mid-year energy boosters to help our incredible volunteers stay motivated for the rest of the school year, not to mention an opportunity for our coordinators to connect with each other and our national office staff.
