Sanofi Canada invests in Let’s Talk Science to build inclusion in STEM education for Canadian students

Investment aimed at providing the next generation of talent access and opportunity to embrace scientific discovery

LONDON, ON (March 29, 2022) – Let’s Talk Science is pleased to announce an investment of $30,000 from sanofi-aventis Canada Inc. (Sanofi Canada) to support national science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education outreach and build inclusion for youth across Canada. In partnership with Let’s Talk Science, Sanofi Canada’s long-standing commitment in STEM education provides Canadian youth with real, hands-on science experiences, enabling them to build the skills required for future success.

“We recognize that there are long-standing systemic barriers to STEM education and careers for many people in Canada,” said Bonnie Schmidt, President, Let’s Talk Science. “This investment from Sanofi Canada will help us eliminate early barriers and provide more opportunities for children and youth to engage in programming that unlocks their creative genius, builds a sense of belonging in STEM, and inspires them to think about their futures.”

Sanofi Canada’s investment will support Let’s Talk Science program delivery for students and educators in both English and French. It will enable Let’s Talk Science to further efforts to engage youth who might otherwise face access barriers and those from demographics that are currently underrepresented in STEM – including girls, Indigenous youth, rural and remote youth, and youth with socioeconomic challenges – through targeted programming that includes in-person Outreach and Let’s Talks Science’s virtual STEM Club program.

Let’s Talk Science recognizes the value of partnership with Sanofi Canada and the important contributions the company has made through its Sanofi Biogenius Canada program. This investment, in addition to the active participation of Sanofi Canada’s employee volunteers in Let’s Talk Science events and activities, signify a continued and significant commitment to children and youth in Canada.

Let’s Talk Science has achieved over 11 million youth and educator interactions since its inception. The organization offers easily accessible, no cost, STEM education programming including professional development for educators, outreach activities delivered by volunteers at 52 post-secondary partners across Canada, and a wide variety of virtual programming and digital resources to support STEM learning and science literacy. In 2020-2021 youth and educators in over 6,000 schools in more than 1,700 communities in every province and territory engaged with Let’s Talk Science programming, including youth in Indigenous, rural, remote and low socio-economic communities, girls and others that have been historically underrepresented in STEM.
