Volunteers make the difference

This week, we join organizations across Canada to celebrate National Volunteer Week.

Most of our Let’s Talk Science programs rely heavily on volunteers as they prepare youth for the future by engaging them online and in person in our science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs. Without our volunteers, much of our work would not be possible.

Our volunteers work hard

Last year, we engaged over 3,500 volunteers, who put in over 55,000 hours of volunteering. They are on track to surpass these numbers this year!

Let’s Talk Science volunteers conduct a variety of tasks, including:

  • presenting outreach activities in classrooms and at community events
  • writing articles and resources for CurioCity
  • preparing materials for workshops
  • editing online content for keep it up-to-date
  • office support
  • moderating online chats

Thanks to volunteers supporting our programs, Let’s Talk Science has helped over 4 million children and youth build critical skills and foster the joy of learning. This impressive number, along with our volunteers’ continued ability to engage youth in STEM, is the reason why Let’s Talk Science funders like The Colcleugh Leadership Program and Great West Life / London Life / Canada Life continue to support our volunteer-led programs.
