Grades 1-3

Students will learn about stars and create a "constellation viewer" where they can create a constellation to look at.

Read "My Hero is You" and learn about germs and the importance of washing your hands.

Read "Who Likes the Wind?" and learn about wind and renewable energy.

Read "Curious George and the Hot Air Balloon" and learn about the properties of light.

Read "The Cloud Spinner" and learn about the water cycle in nature.

Learners will build their very own telescope and experience what it's like to look at different objects through a telescope lens.

Students see how different amounts of air and water in a space can change the way we hear sounds.

Students explore the science of sound by creating their own "Walkman" which transmits vibrations through a piece of string.

Students will use a special type of paper that is sensitive to the sun to create fun prints and designs on the paper using sunlight.

Students will go on an outdoor scavenger hunt to find things related to nature and the environment.

Students will go outdoors to search for various natural objects and living things, and try to be the first person to get a BINGO.

Students will do a variety of activities listed on their "Summer Time Bucket List" and try to check off as many activities as possible over the course of the summer break.

Students will be introduced to a refraction - when light bends it passes from one material to another.

Students learn about the three states of matter and how they might interact in one system using baking soda solid and orange juice liquid in a cup to produce "orange soda" gas.

Students will get to learn about what a structure is and what materials can be used to build a strong and stable bridge.
