Let’s Talk Science Donor Volunteer from ExxonMobil Canada

“I am inspired every time I see a student glowing from excitement when they talk about how much they enjoy STEM topics, take part in an experiment or learn a new fact!”

Position: SSH&E Communications Advisor

Time volunteering with Let’s Talk Science: Since 2018

Why do you volunteer with Let’s Talk Science? Through my role at ExxonMobil Canada, I provide support services to the Hibernia Project. Hibernia is a major sponsor of Let’s Talk Science. We believe getting students excited about STEM will result in more students pursuing studies in engineering, technology and trades, which is important to our industry and our province. Personally, I also admire Let’s Talk Science’s ability to make STEM fun and engaging. The programming appeals to a wide range of interests and learning styles.

Inspirational Moment: I am inspired every time I see a student glowing from excitement when they talk about how much they enjoy STEM topics, take part in an experiment or learn a new fact!

Favourite Let’s Talk Science volunteering activity: 2018 – School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Fun fact: The Hibernia platform, located 315 km from St. John’s, NL, stands 224 metres high, which is half the height of New York's Empire State Building (449 metres) and 33 metres taller than the Calgary Tower (191 metres)!
