"I'm really proud to be a woman in STEM and I hope to inspire others."

How long have you been volunteering with Let’s Talk Science?  My first experience volunteering with Let’s Talk Science was in 2018.

Why do you volunteer with Let’s Talk Science?  I’m really proud to be a woman in STEM and I hope to inspire others who are interested in this career path. It’s also important to me to give back to my community in areas that I’m passionate about (particularly wildlife and ecosystems).

Tell us about an inspirational moment during your time volunteering with Let’s Talk Science: I gave a talk about my career to grade 6 students at their Science Fair Competition at the University of Calgary through Let’s Talk Science. It was very rewarding to be able to demonstrate to the students that the information they are learning in school can be directly applicable to an exciting career!

Favourite Let’s Talk Science volunteering activity: I really enjoyed participating in the Science Fair and getting to share my career journey so far with the students.

Fun fact:  My first field experience was conducting acoustic vocal experiments on tropical songbirds in the rainforests of Costa Rica.
