Let's Talk Science Volunteer at Queen's University

I love getting students curious about the wonders of STEM!

Time volunteering with Let’s Talk Science: Academic year of 2023-2024

Area of study: Concurrent Education and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program

Inspirational Moment: I love volunteering with Let's Talk Science and seeing students' faces light up when doing activities with us. My favourite part is at the end of lessons when students are excited to show their peers and teachers their hard work. One particular memory I have with Let's Talk Science is when a grade 1 class was amazed by their lava lamps and loved how cool they looked. Their little oo's and aah's made the mess all worth it! Little moments like these make me realize that what I do is important and is something that students really look forward to.

Why do you volunteer with Let’s Talk Science?
I love teaching about STEM and really love getting students interested in science! Let's Talk Science provides me with the tools and materials to be prepared and ready to teach classes. Let's Talk Science's values align well with my beliefs in accessible education, and I genuinely enjoy volunteering for an organization that empowers students to pursue STEM. Overall, I love teaching students with Let's Talk Science by answering students' questions and getting students curious about the wonders of STEM!

Fun fact: I had the opportunity last year to study abroad in the UK at Bader College! During my spare time I love to swim and draw.
