Asking Testable Questions
Enabling students to design and carry out experimental inquiries is an important aspect of learning about scientific processes. The first step in this process is the generation of an experimental or testable question.
This is a collaborative strategy based on the Think-Pair-Share learning strategy. Students make individual predictions about an inquiry question and then refine their predictions with their peers.
An I Predict…Chart learning strategy is used to assist students in developing the skill of predicting about events and phenomena that they explore through observation and investigation.
Developing a Hypothesis
After identifying a testable question, students need to develop a scientific hypothesis.
