Join Lexie and Lenny to read Il Sung Na’s book, “Welcome Home, Bear: A Book of Animal Habitats” and complete a hands-on science activity about animal habitats!
In this activity, students will learn all about animal habitats. Students will use everyday household items to create a thaumatrope of an animal and its habitat. A thaumatrope is a device consisting of a card with a different design on either side. When the card is twirled, the images appear to blend into one, placing the animal in its habitat.
For this activity, students will need:
- Half a sheet of paper (cut lengthwise)
- Tape
- Straw or pencil
- Colouring pencils or crayons
This activity is targeted at students in early years to kindergarten. Older students may still enjoy the activity and book but may find part too easy and may need some adjustment to stay engaged.
