Join Lexie and Lenny to read Donna Marie Merritt’s book, “Too Tall Tina” and complete a hands-on science activity about measurement!

In this 45-minute activity, students will learn all about how their feet can be used as a measuring tool and why we use rulers and standardized units like centimetres or metres. Students will use everyday household items to create a model of their own foot, which they can use to measure objects (e.g., their desk height). They will compare their findings with other students to see if there are any differences and why that might be the case.

For this activity, students will need:

  • Regular sheet of paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Optional: string or yarn

While this activity is targeted at students in kindergarten to Grade 3, younger students may require help with steps such as using scissors and taking measurements.
