Learn About My Career

Soneeka Patel is a Strategic Account Manager for Google.

I was born/grew up in: Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada

I now live in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

I completed my training/education at: Saint Mary's University

What I do on any given day will vary depending on the situation. My key activities are all related to online strategy and maintaining good relationships with our clients:

monitoring and reporting on revenue providing service to clients as needed managing ongoing projects and initiatives learning and understanding our products identifying which products will help clients improve their advertising revenue

I work on a team of five people and cross collaborate with our team in the US on a regular basis. When I need to make decisions and recommendations to clients, colleagues and team members, I make sure this is based on sound data. I collect this data by doing an analysis of the issue or process. I use my background and skills in math and analytics when doing analyses. These are two skill areas that have helped me thrive in my role.

I had a zig zag career path, taking risks and seeking new opportunities. I started studying International Economics at university. After graduation I moved to the UK where I fell into a digital marketing job for an ISP. I worked at this for a while and then moved back to Canada to pursue a career in Sports Management. After several years in that area I decided to go back to the digital space. My broad background and experience helped me get to my current position. I live by the motto, “if you don't risk anything, you risk even more”.

I love seeing results from the plans and initiatives we have put in place. I also love learning new things. Working on challenging issues also serves to motivate me.

I help businesses grow and prepare them for what's next.

Spin, Run and Travel.

Life isn't always a straight and narrow path; nor is getting the career you want.
