Constellation Detective

Main Image
Astronomy and Space Science Volunteer Activities

Students are given an unlabeled picture of a night sky and asked to find the constellations in it.

What You Need

Materials:

  • Printed set of master copies
  • Printed set of answer keys

Guide:

What To Do

Show students a picture of the constellation to look for, and ask them to find it on the corresponding master copy picture. Once they have found the constellation, they can either draw the constellation (or point to it if the sheets are being reused).

For older audiences, you can also talk about light pollution and how you can see more stars when you are away from a bigger city and in the country.
