A virtual interview with a scientist where volunteers lead an interactive session about themselves, their interest in science, their career path, etc.

Students have a chance to ask questions throughout and develop an interest in a specific field of science. The attached PowerPoint is customizable for different age groups and audiences.

As you fill in this template, please tailor the presentation to the age group you are presenting to.

Things to consider:

  • The ratio of images to words on each slide. Younger age groups may need more images to stay engaged. Explanations and wording may need to stay relatively basic and easy to understand. 
  • Length of the presentation. You want to keep the audience captivated for the entire presentation. To do so, delete template slides that may not be interesting or necessary for your audience. 
  • Since each researcher will have different experiences, tailor the presentation to best fit you.
     

Students can engage with the speakers by asking questions to the Scientist as a part of the panel discussion. You can get students to brainstorm any questions they may have for the speaker beforehand.
